Sunflowers are the embodiment of summer joy. These fast-growing annuals produce enormous golden flower heads that can reach up to 30 cm across. Care Guide
Planting
Sow seeds 2.5 cm deep directly in the ground after the last frost.
Sunlight
Choose the sunniest spot in your garden — 6–8 hours of direct sun daily.
Watering
Water deeply at the base every 2–3 days. Avoid wetting the flower heads.
Staking
Stake tall varieties when they reach 60 cm to protect from wind.
Drooping head
Normal in very hot weather — water deeply and it will recover by morning.
Powdery mildew
Improve air circulation and avoid overhead watering.
Slugs on seedlings
Use copper tape or organic slug pellets around young plants.
